Obituary

Jo Ann Laird (Blankenship), 65, was born on October 11, 1953 to the late Calvin & Johnnie Ruth (Sutton) Blankenship. She was born in Lindsay, OK but lived a life well-traveled due to her father’s career in the oil field. She gained her wings on April 8, 2019 and is now reunited with her parents.

She graduated from Elk City High School and shortly after moved to Oklahoma City and pursued a prosperous career in accounting. Jo Ann and Johnny Laird met in 1978. They formed a love that would stand the test of time and were joined in union on March 8, 1992.

She loved God and her Church, First Baptist in Elk City, where she lived. Jo Ann was a fun loving, outgoing, free spirited person. She was the kind of person that always had a smile on her face and she never met a stranger. Family & friends were the light of her life and she loved spending time with them. Her caring and loving spirit was infectious…to know her was to love her. The amount of lives she touched was overwhelming and she will be forever missed.

Jo Ann leaves to cherish her everlasting memories: her husband Johnny; one son Chamus (Jackie); three daughters Joline, Shanta, and Miesha (Jermaine Sr.); ten grandchildren Zechariah, Akaisha (Ben), Shania (Deiontae), Kinny Jr., O’Neal Jr., Darius, Malani, Tray III, Jermaine Jr. and Jo’Shari; three great-grandchildren Jaquaveous, Messiah, and Lariah; Three brothers Ronnie (Barbara), Thomas (Diana), Andy (April); One Sister Connie (Don) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Monday, April 15th, 2019 at 11:00 am located a Smith & Turner Mortuary.

JoAnn left this life too soon. She was my best friend since the 4th grade in Lindsay, OK. I reconnected with her this past Christmas and we were so excited to get together and reminence over old times. We were quite a pair and had a great friendship. I love you JoAnn and miss you so much but I know you are where you’re supposed to be now. I pray you are In God’s love and hands. Love you forever dear Best Friend, Janet
