I'll miss you a lot Marty. I've known you for about 42 years now. We met just a couple months after I started dating Diana, my future wife & your sister-in-law back in the spring of 1977. You had married her older sister, Gwenda, just a year before. Diana introduced us when I met her at you'lls apartment for one of our dates; She had waited there for me to get off work instead driving back home, the big town of Tuttle. Then in the summer of '77 Diana asked if I wanted to attend a country concert w/her; I was like "with you? OF Course!!" but why country? you don't like country. Well she explained we'd be attending w/you & Gwenda, both big country fans, & the tickets had been bought 8-9 months before.
It was Lynn Anderson w/The Oak Ridge Boys & Ronnie Milsap. A pretty decent concert, Ronnie Milsap & Oak Ridge Boys were better than Lynn. After that we double dated often & once I convinced Diana to marry me in March 78, we went out with you & Gwenda every Friday night until we bought our 1st house & had to start watching our money. You & I went deer hunting in Nov. 1977, actually you took me. We sleep in the back of your red GMC pickup. You snored so load, it reverbiated inside that camper shell I don't think I ever slept. The 2nd night I was determined to fall asleep before you did & I did, I was sooo tired. Well thru all the ups & downs of the 80s, 90s & 2000s you & I indeered, you more than me. We both dealt w/very difficult inlaws again you more than me & you suffered the loss of your wife. Diana & I suffered thru little Ashley's death but we had each other. Then almost 2 years ago when Diana left so unexpectedly you had kind & helpful words for me. Just last Thanksgiving, obviously just prior to your illness, you & Linda set & talked with me about dealing with the loss of Diana. I've had such a very hard time with it but you'll had gentle words to help guide me, words from experience. You don't know how much I appreciated that. You don't know how Diana & I appreciated you & Gwenda when we 1st married, how you helped us out in many ways. You gave us your hand-me-down kitchen table & chairs and you arranged for some friends of yours who were getting new living room furniture to give us their old furniture. So Diana & I were able to start off with a kitchen table/chairs, large couch, plush chair, foot rest & coffee table all in good condition & it only cost $5.00 for a repaired vinyl strap on the couch. You were great to us / me over the years. To a great man, father, husband & brother-in-law / friend. All my sympathy & love to Linda, Michelle, Michael, Kristine, Peyton, Spencer & Simon.
